タイトルどおり1962年から66年までのライブ演奏を収録。2枚組CDで全30曲をほぼ時系列にまとめている。ほとんどの音源が、日本国内で未発表だったもの。62年4月16日のニューヨークでの「風に吹かれて」から始まり、66年5月17日のマンチェスターでの「ライク・ア・ローリング・ストーン」で幕を閉じる。そして、同年7月29日、ディランはウッドストック近郊でモーターバイクの事故を起こし、活動を休止する。
ディランは1941年5月24日生まれ。このアルバムは、20歳の終わりから25歳直前までのディランを捉えている。ジャケットの写真データが記載されていないが、65年7月25日のニューポート・フォーク・フェスティバルでの撮影のようだ。革ジャン、エレキギター、ハーモニカ。
