本作は1959年4月録音のライブアルバムBarneyの未発表テイク集。ライナーノーツによるとリリースは97年で、バルネ・ウィランが96年5月25日に他界したため、追悼盤の意味合いがあったと書かれている。しかしながら、40年近くもテープを倉庫に眠らした理由はどこにあったのだろうか。
演奏そのものは、アルバムBarneyに決して劣らない内容である。ましてや、ウィランとしては、十分に納得できるライブ演奏をタイムリーに世に出せず不本意だったに違いない。ライナーノーツを担当した原田和典氏は、そんな重要なポイントには触れず、字数稼ぎだけをしているのだ。
