評価が大きく分かれるアルバムだろう。少なくとも、自分の中では、もうビートルズではなく、各メンバーが勝手に作った楽曲を寄せ集めたアルバム。このアルバムをリリースする前に彼らは解散すべきだった。つまり、ここからは「愛」を感じられない。その要因の一つは、ジョン・レノンがオノ・ヨーコをスタジオに連れてきてことにある。公私混同で、それを許さざるを得なかったメンバーにも責任ありだ。
ごちゃ混ぜで、なんでもあり。様々な音楽要素が組み込まれている。いろんな色を混ぜ合わせて真っ黒になったのを、真っ白に塗りたくったとも言える。その中で、特筆すべきはジョージ・ハリスン作のWhile My Guitar Gently Weepsで、クラプトンが参加。自分にとっては、この曲ぐらいしか価値がない。詳しい解説は『ザ・ビートルズ（ホワイト・アルバム）』にある。
