Wikipediaで調べたところ、このアルバムの日本での発売は1966年3月15日と記載されていた。小学校高学年のとき、仲の良かった級友宅で聴かせてもらった記憶がある。彼は3人兄弟の末っ子だったので、兄貴所有のレコードをこっそりステレオで回してくれたのだろう。
その時、記憶に残った曲は「ノルウェーの森」と「イン・マイ・ライフ」だった。歌詞カードは付いていたが、和訳は載っていなかったと思う。指で歌詞カードのThere are places I'll remember ...をなぞりながら聴いたことを憶えている。意味は全く分からないくせに、ませた小学生だった。自分にとってのビートルズのリアルタイム体験である。
