発売された当時、かなり批判があったアルバムらしい。リズム＆ブルースとも言えるし、ブラックミュージックと言ってもいいだろう。ソウルシンガーズによるボーカルまで登場する。だが、アルバート・アイラーがやりたかった音楽が、ここにあったのかも知れない。それは、決してフリーキーなジャズではなく。1962年10月にThe First Recordingsを録音し、その6年後に自分自身が解放されるアルバムをようやく作ることができた。そんな解釈もできる。このアルバムにこそ、アイラーの本質があった。そんなふうに聴くと、実に楽しくなるアルバムなのだ。
所有する20枚ほどのアイラーのアルバムの中で、彼の肉声を聴く事が出来るのは、アルバムMy Name Is Albert Aylerと本作。本作には、アイラーのボーカルさえ入っている。彼からのメッセージがジャケットに書かれている。その全文と要約を以下に記載してみた。中上健次が書いたように『破壊せよ、とアイラーは言った』なんて、アイラーは一言も言っていないのだ。
