高校に入った1972年頃に購入したレコード。なので、今さら書くことは特にないのだが、レコードジャケットを改めて眺めたところ、"I'll be down to get you in a taxi honey / Better be ready by half past eight / Now, honey, don't be late / I want to be there / When THE BAND starts playing..."の記載を裏面に発見。調べてみると、The Darktown Strutters' Ballというデキシーランド・ジャズの歌い出しのようだ。ただし、"THE BAND"の箇所の歌詞は大文字になっている。ちょっとしたシャレであることが判明。
所有するボブ・ディランのアルバムに収録された曲を、自力で訳すプロジェクトをスタートさせたのは2018年1月16日。そして、728曲を積み重ね今年の4月5日に完了。その中には、ザ・バンドがバックを務めたライブアルバムBefore The Floodも含んでいる。ザ・バンドだけによる演奏が5曲あり、The Night They Drove Old Dixie DownとUp On Cripple Creekが本アルバムに収められている。つまり、ザ・バンドのレコードを買ってから50年近く経ち、ようやく彼らの曲を日本語で理解し始めたところである。
