アルバムBlood On The Tracks（邦題：血の轍）はディランの最高傑作の一つ。1974年9月、順調に録音が進んだものの、ディランは録り直しを決意。スタジオをニューヨークからミネアポリスに変えて、同年12月に再度録音した。ニューヨークでの録音は、ベーシストのTony Brownを入れたものの、弾き語りだった。
ディランに降り注いだ言葉は歌詞となったが、弾き語りの形態では音楽にならなかった。ボブ・ディランは、歌詞をもっと活かせるサウンドがあるべきで、表現者であるディランを演じ切れていないと感じた。そして、Blood On The Tracksが完成。未完成に終わった録音をアルバムMore Blood, More Tracksという形でリリースすることに、ディランは抵抗がなかったのだろうか。録音から44年後の2018年にリリース。ディランは、自身の歩みをさらけ出すことに、それもディランを演じることだと感じたのかも知れない。
